    Handling Outreach groups/teams

I would like to know how other churches manage their Outreach groups/teams.  We want to set up our outreach teams in F1 but we weren't sure if we should set them up as small groups using group manager or set them up like a serving team because most of the outreach projects are serving opportunities.  We want them to show up with a staffing assignment (i.e. showing that they are serving on a ministry team) on reports so therefore they need a staffing assignment but we would like for them to be a "group" so that they could be cared for by the outreach group leader and see their attendance to outreach projects.   If we specify the team as a group, it only gives the person on the team a participant assignment which does not show that they are serving on the reporting side.

Please let me know what your church is doing for outreach teams in F1.  We need some ideas!  Thanks!  :)

    Re: Handling Outreach groups/teams

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you so much for responding.  I read the blog and I think I had read that before.  Contacts are not so much an issue as just trying to assign members of the groups.  We want the group member to be seen in the database as staffing assignments because they are serving.  If we give all group members staffing assignments then they will have the ability to delete and edit group members in the group manager.  We hold a large dinner function in December every year to "thank" our volunteers.  When we run reports to get a list of all volunteers to invite to the "thank you" event, we would not get these group members because they would just have a participant assignment to the group and not a staffing assignment.  We would get the group leaders on the report because they would have a staffing assignment as a leader of the group.  How do you propose that we get a roster of all our current volunteers who are serving in some capacity that would include these "Outreach/care teams" if they are assigned to a group instead of having a staffing assignment?  Does that make sense?

Thank you for your patience with me in trying to figure out how to manage our care teams/Outreach teams.  I appreciate your input so much!

    Hi Cara,

No I have not been able to get anywhere on this issue.  We spoke with Fellowship One and tried to get in on the groups 2.0 beta because we thought that would be exactly what we needed for our teams.  We were told we could have it installed when they did their phase 3 implementation of churches which was supposed to be mid to late July.  We still have not been added.  It seems they had some major functionality problems that need to be fixed before phase 3 is put in and so we are just left with ministry leaders that are terribly frustrated because we have been promising them we would find something to help them.  It might not be a bad thing that we haven't been able to get in on the beta, don't want to be too close to the bleeding edge.  :)  Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.
