Background check file too easily accessed

I am very concerned about the fact that anyone who has edit rights has the ability to open the background check file and view a person's criminal history and social security history. I feel this is very unsafe and our church members would not appreciate their history being viewed. We run background checks as a requirement on a lot of our volunteers. We are a large church and a lot of people have edit rights. Can F1 find a way to make edit rights more specific or perhaps F1 shouldn't be attaching the background check file? Any thoughts?

    Hi Tina -

There actually is a specific security right for viewing background checks, called "View Background Checks." We have that right very specific to just a couple of people that would need to see it. There's another right that says "View Background Status" that we have a little wider so people can see if it's approved, pending, conditional, etc. But you can make it so that many people with other rights, can't even see the status of a background check. It is separate from other "edit" rights...

Hopefully you'll be able to get your security rights narrowed down! I agree that it's very sensitive information that only a few should be able to see!

    I hope you're having a great week! :)

We do not keep our background check files available in F1 for that very reason.  We have a secured file on our server where they are all kept.  Paper copies of the files are in a locked drawer at my desk.  We only have three people at the church that have secured access to that file.  If a staff person needs to see one for any reason, they have to check with us.  The only thing people can see in F1 is if there is a current background check done, and when/who did it.

I would love to be able to attach them to the person, but at this time have the same idea with the security of them.

We also use the specific security rights for background checks that F1 has.  Only specific people are able to view the attached file.  We love it.
