Small Group Leaders Frustrated With Manager Web Interface

My small group leaders want me to "fix it".  They can't believe that they can see the "home phone" on their screens, but not the mobile phones.  They laugh because hardly anyone we minister to actually still has a "home phone".  We end up putting one member of the family's mobile number as the "home phone".  But then that person gets frustrated because the small group leaders for the whole family keep calling that one person's cell number.

The small group leaders stare at me in disbelief as I try to explain that F1 will eventually correct this huge, yet seemingly simple, hole.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I searched the experience site, and found that many people had posted about this problem.  Often in the "ideas" section.  However, I wasn't able to find any "official" response from Fellowship Tech.

You ARE working on fixing this...???

Our workaround for that has been to add the mobile number in both home and mobile number fields.  It's not perfect but it works for now.

Yep, that's what we are doing too -- and you're right, it's better than having no numbers at all.

However, that means that the small group leaders still only see one number.  So when "Jane's" small group leader calls the "home" number, the leader always reaches "John" -- who may be at work or not with his wife.  John gets frustrated, because he always gets calls from the whole family (his wife, 3 kids) small group leaders on his personal cell.

    I agree.  That is frustrating.

Anytime we change any aspect or behavior of our product we will get push back from someone who doesn't agree; I know it may be hard to believe with the current scenario, but trust me.  Consequently we are forced to create a configuration situation, allowing you to define how something behaves.  Suddenly the fix isn't as quick and we spend a signficant amount of time on a product that is being replaced when we should have been spending that time on the new product (in this case Groups 2.0).  We are working on Groups 2.0 and you will have a much better experience with this solution when it is released.

PS - I don't have a release date yet, but it is a big focus in development right now.

Thank you Curtis.  We are so anxious to get the new Small Group Module.  It is going to make things so much better for us from what I have aleady seen.  I keep telling everyone it's on the way.  Hopefully by the end of the year right?

Wow.  OK.  So I guess I didn't even realize that groups 2.0 was going to change anything about small group manager.  That's great.  Sounds like it will be a total overhaul.  Hopefully soon.

@SherryD I wish I knew for sure.  End of the year does sound reasonable based on the new momentum I'm seeing.

Re: Small Group Leaders Frustrated With Manager Web Interface

I am having this problem as well and was wondering if the focus was more on the new "Groups" version that they aren't maintaining the old way.  I submitted

As we are beginning our fall group sign ups I realized that my leaders that log in to weblink cannot see any cell numbers or household email addresses, etc. I know that we have requested to be a beta version church for the new "groups" module but until this is ready we really need this capability. Please advise.

All I was told to do was go to the experience site.  I'm frustrated.
