We're new to F1 and I thought I heard someone say that an easy way to do assignments to an activity is just post attendance for a given activity and there is a database operation that occurs nightly that will assign anyone who attended an activity to that activity.  Is this true?  If so that would be the easiest way for us to do activity assignments (rather than one person at a time using the activity assignment tool).

Yes! This is true! It is very easy to do. Just go to the Ministry tab and click on Participants in the left bar. Select Post Attendance and the activity. You will need to make sure that your activity is all ready set up, but once that is done it is very simple. I hope that helps.

I'm sorry, but maybe I don't understand what is being communicated. I have an activity with only 10 people in it. They each have participation assignments for that activity. About 45 people attended the activity. You are saying that when I go to post attendance and I mark those other 35 people as having attended, the next time I pull a report for who is assigned to that activity all 45 people will be there instead of just the original 10?  I would love it if it worked that way, but I have never seen that happen with any other activity I have dealt with. Am I doing something wrong?  I came to the forum in search of this very topic because I too heard that it could be done. Please let me know what I am missing. Thank you!

I think this only works if your Activity is set to give auto-assignments either on the "first attendance" or "most recent attendance".

Great! - Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, but I am having trouble finding were to select those two choices. I watched the video for Automatic attendance, but found that is related to contributions and attendance, not posting attendance and Participant assignments. Any idea of were to look for the option to mark "first attendance" or "most recent attendance"? I didn't see it obviously on any of the activity set up pages, nor did I see a video that covered this topic.

Look under the Ministry tab, Activity/Room Setup - Activities.  In the box for Check-in Settings in the top right corner, the last thing in there should say "Auto Assignments" and have a drop down to choose from.
