How do you all enter businesses into your system? We have some businesses and some donor churches that we wanted to bring over from our previous system, but we can't import them through Data Exchange because they don't have first/last names - just wondering what you guys do to work around that, and if anyone had any suggested "best practices".

Assigning Deacons to Families

In our church each family is assigned a deacon to assist incontacting and encouraging that family. Each deacon is assigned several families. Our prior church management system providedthe capability of adding a deacon to the family. Has anyone replicated this in FellowshipOne? We would also like to be able torun a list of families by deacon, as well as running a list of those familiesthat have not been assigned a deacon. Wouldit be best to create participate assignments for each person with the deaconbeing the “activity?” Any ideas would be appreciated!

Children over 18

Currently we leave all children within a household, even those over 18. Their status may be changed to Visitor or Attendee or Member, but their Position would be Child, as that is their position within the household.

I am thinking that it would be a better practice to transfer these adults to their own Household and make them the Head, even though they have the same address. This would allow us to contact them individually and treat them as the adults that they are. It would also help with Contribution records.

I'm looking for any feedback you can provide on this...pros and cons...what has worked for your church? And what should I know before I make this transition? Also, what would be the easiest, least labor intensive way to make this change in our database?

How do I delete a person?

Baptismal Records

We have a need to cut and paste a pdf application into the Notes section of a persons' record and mark it confidential. Its an application for benevolence funds. It was suggested that we can cut and paste a pdf into that section and I am unable to make that work. Is there anyone who has had success, or that can tell me any other way to get a pdf document attachment into a person's record [confidentially]? Thanks !

Changing the status of all members in a household

I was looking through the "completed and released" ideas under the Idea's tab and it states that we should be able to change the status of all members of a household. I know you can do it through mass action but that is tedious as compared to doing the changes in the household screen. I attached the idea below. Curtis Harris produced a video on Household 2.0 which indicates the same.

Delete Household?

I'm new to F1 and just was wondering if there is some way to just go in and "Delete" a household (or individual)? I put a "test person" in and want to delete them now and can't seem to find a way to do this!

NOTICE: USPS Address Verifications due by November 23!

Just in case you aren't aware of this, ANY ORGANIZATION that sends bulk mailings MUST HAVE the zip+4 code on mailings no later than November 23rd in order to comply with USPS regulations. In F1 (and if you have the Enterprise edition), your address will verify if it is entered through the New View screen. Any addresses that are entered through the "old view" (individual people record) or through Weblink are not verified.

When we converted to F1 last year, we didn't learn until after the conversion that we didn't have the correct version required to verify addresses. As of today, we have roughly 8,000 records that we are going to have to open up and verify within 3 weeks. F1 support suggested that we purchase a separate software package to export our addresses into, verify them, then import them back into our system. however, at this time, we just don't have the funds available to purchase it.

It took us 2 weeks to get an answer from USPS to find out if we were required to comply. I just wanted to save anyone else that time and make you aware of this upcoming requirement.

Is there an add limit to groups?

I have a large group with over 10,000 people in it and am not able to edit it. I ran a report and was able to select temporary group output and then make it into a permanent group. I want to add a description and allow others to manage the group but I keep getting an error message. Has anyone else encountered this? My other groups are fine though they are not this large.

Anyone?

Dual heads of houeholds

We have many people in our congregation who are married or partnered but with different names. We are considering making them "dual heads" rather than head/spouse.

Does anyone have any experience with doing that and does it impact anything besides their household position (e.g. more than showing both names when doing household searches, etc.)

Gear On New Individual view

We love the new Household/Individual 2.0! Unfortunatelly not all of us are able to access the new gear feature on the Individual view page.. Is anyone else having tis problem.. We found that one of our computers is showing the gear but all the others are not. Could it be a software issue? I'd appreciate any help or suggestions!!

Since this group meets in the church area that is "secured", nametags are requried.

Changing status for entire family

Is there a way to change the status, date, comment, of an entire family at once vs. having to do each person individually, i.e. from member to inactive, etc. because they've moved or something similar, when obviously the status for all family members is the same? Managing addresses

There are four common types of addresses for our households:

Physical - The physical location of the house or apartment.

PO Box - The address where the post office will deliver mail when they do not deliver to a physical address.

Previous - The physical location of the previous house ( might be used if the house does not give a new address)

Statement - The address the individual or household requests for their Contribution statements.

Does anyone have a best practices for managing these in Fellowship and a description of how Fellowship uses these in reports, queries, and actions.

Trying to locate children without a birthday

New to F1. Our previous church management system had incomplete data for children birthdays because children's ministry used a silo database and was not imported to F1. How can I find kids in F1 who do NOT have a birthday entered? The query builder doesn't include "is null" and I can't find a report that includes ALL kids. Any ideas?

Report of All F1 Info. by Family

We are new to F1 and have just completed our electronic data conversion. As a first step, we want every family/member/attendee to scheck the information we have for them. Is there a report that provides all of the informaiton that we have for each family, by person, that we can hand out for checking? I am sure it is there somewhere, but coundl't find it.

Unlisted address?

We have a couple of attenders that have requested that their contact information not be included in directories (one is a juvenile social worker). Is there a preferred way to mark these people for "do not publish in directory" that is reflected in the reports? Some kind of "unlisted" address type?

Address verification question

We live in an area that is a suburb (Tigard) of a major city(Portland), and due to historical reasons the USPS considers our zip codes to all be part of Portland - which is what the address verification changes them to. When we print out a directory, this "technically correct" information generates an "unpleasant emotional response" that we would prefer to avoid.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue?
Is there a way to use the address comment field and get it in a report?

Assigning a status to someone who attends another church

We are getting ready to start a fall kickoff of Life groups for ladies that will occur every 2nd and 4th Wednesday mornings from Sept to Dec. We are going to have online event registrations for this. We think this will attract ladies that attend other churches but would like to attend a morning bible study. We want to know if the person registering currently attends another church or not and we plan to collect that information through event registration. We thought it best to set up a new status for these people who attend large events but already belong to another church, so that they aren't targeted and bombarded by our newsletters and things like that. Does anyone already have a process/status they use for people who are members of other churches in the area but that attend large ladies or men's events? Thank you for any insight you can give on how to handle this.

Unmarried couples -- household position

We have several unmarried couples attending our church. Obviously using a household position of "spouse" would be incorrect here... Do you guys use "other" or do you put them both as "head"?
