For parents with children that ar 2 years or younger we make asset tags available (for diaper bags, bottles, etc.). The only problem we experience is that occasionally a parent will print off an asset tag instead of a name tag for their child. The asset tag does not have the receipt number printed on it and this slows down the parent when they come to pick up their child. Is there any way we could get the asset tag to include the receipt number? Or is there any way that we could move the asset tag function (which operates from 9:30am - 1:00pm Sunday) moved to the right of the experience or service they intend to check their children into?

The way FellowshipOne is currently setup is that each church should have their own ministry process(es) that each ministry leader should learn. The ministry leader should make the appropriate notation that would indicate what he has done, go over and change the status of the contact that would reflect where he is at in the process of discipleship, and then forward the person to the other ministry leader who would then be in charge of taking the contact to the next level of the discipleship process.

(Deep breath) That was a mouthful.

Maybe, I am a technologically spoiled brat, but should not all of these tasks be automated if F1's goal is indeed to give us more time for ministry? For churches like mine that has a defined discipleship process that leads people through spiritual maturity, we need something that will not provide us with a follow-up nightmare. I should be able to look up any given member and know exactly where he is in the discipleship process, who is leading him through that stage, how long he has been there, and what tasks need to be completed on the part of the ministry leader to bring that disciple through that stage.

Allow me to provide you with my bright idea (if it has not been offered yet). Somewhere in the church setup there should be an area where a list of consecutive events (where the completion of the former triggers the commencement of the latter) can be setup. To be overly simplistic, allow me to give a sample of three. Again, this is overly simplistic, because there should be more steps in between these. But let's name the events (1)Salvation, (2) Church Membership, (3) Servanthood. There should be a list of tasks (small or great) under each event that needs to be accomplished before the next event is triggered. The tasks can all be assigned to one person, or different tasks can be assigned to different people within the event. When the F1 Champion creates the task, he would program F1 to route each task to the appropriate person. Some tasks would require some prerequisite task to be completed. Others would be able to function independently. However, it is setup, once all the tasks within that event (or "stage") is completed, it would automatically trigger the next event with its respective tasks.

How would this look from the perspective of the ministry leader?

Well, like always, the ministry leader would logon into the F1 portal and look over at his "My Task". He would then click on his ministry category. From then on, instead of just having a list of people with no direction of what to do, he would then have the same list of people but with the list of tasks below them or, better yet, hyperlinked to the disciple. He can sort it by date, by person, by task, etc. and save his customization for each time after that. The result is that anyone in the pastoral staff can look at any member/contact in F1 and know exactly where they are in the discipleship process. This I would think, would fulfill the assimulation tunnel that F1 demonstrates in their corportate website.

Now, since it seems like I am under inspiration at the moment. I will offer you another enhancement idea: provide the ability to sync the tasks with Microsoft Outlook, and/or PDA device. Now that's savvy.

Although I am full of ideas, unfortunately, I do not have the slight capability to write the code for F1. Otherwise, I would. My DM stated that FellowshipOne is working on something like this. Is this true? Where are we at? And when should we anticipate it?

I predict that when and if F1comes out with such enhancements, that they would literally have sealed their ministry business to hold the monopoly of church management software, especially if they integrate their technology with Microsoft Office.

Can anyone give me some feeback?

I never liked this feature of automatic log it. It is the inconvenience. I often do several things at the computer and then I will switch to Fellowship One, be into it in depth, get called away for a few minutes and come back to work on it again and I am logged out! Yuck! Now, I have to start over again.

When I first saw this post I thought it meant it wouldn't log me out. But it means the countdown timer won't appear and I won't be redirected to the login page. I guess it will just bump me all the way off of IE.

I just wish we had a longer period of inactivity before we get bumped off. It is not like a banking account that I go into a few times a week and therefore they bump me off for security.

This is the program I am in all day long at work, but I am not accessing it every moment of the day. But I use it consistently through the day and having to re-log-in is frustrating time after time after time.

Email Notification when Someone Replies to Your Post

Have you thought about an email notification system that notifies the person posting when another person replies to the post? This could be a simple check box that tells the system to send you an email everytime someone posts a reply to a thread to which you have posted.

Basically it is a "track this thread" notification. Most people will not have time to monitor the entire site by clicking on the "posts you have not read" shortcut. But if there was a shortcut to review "posts to threads you have posted to" and "posts to threads that you are montoring" (whether you have posted to them or not) would be helpful.

But ulimately, I would like to "opt" in for email notification so I don't have to keep comming back to check the site.

Forums & Ideas Tab Are Great, But What About Bug Reporting?

It was great to hear during the conference that the "Experience" site is being used as a key tool to communicate between the user community and Fellowship Tech. I had used the site originally when it first came out, but became "disenchanted" about it when I did not get timely feedback on some of my posts from a Fellowship Tech associate. Needless to say, I stopped using the site. So it was good to hear the site is being used so much by Fellowship Tech. And I will be using it once again more myself.

The first suggestion I have is related to the reporting bugs/errors. I read a post from Teresa Bice (dated 11-05-2007, 8:18 PM) where she was asking for a list of known bugs. It was basically closed with the comment, "it is too difficult to do". I agree with Fellowship Tech that this would be difficult because it would be a long, long list that would involve lots of issues many of which do not affect the normal user. In my opinion a complete list of every single known error would cause more confusion than it would help. But I have a related but slightly different suggestion.

"Experience" has a "forums" menu tab to post anything related to a specific subject. I notice that posts range from "how do I do this or that" to "ideas". (Yes, ideas should all be in the "ideas" section, but I do find them in the "forums" also.) I really like the "ideas" tab because it gives us the ability to separately review suggestions without seeing all those other posts. I think something needs to be done to also separate "bug/error reporting".

What I would like to suggest is that you either:
a) add a "Bug/Error Report" menu tab so that we can easily go into the three different areas (forums, ideas, bug/errors)
b) add a special "Bug/Error" tag that is VERY obvious to anyone that they should select this if what they are reporting is something related to a "bug/error" (in addition to checking the "check-in" tag or whatever their post is related to).
c) That you move/link any post related to a bug/error report to some special area that we can review (or make it easily searchable"
d) That you create a "reported" list of bug/errors, that we can review and comment and maybe even vote on.

You may ask why, when we can open support tickets? Well there have been times I have discovered an error and posted it to support, and then been told it is really an idea and it needs to be posted to the ideas section of the "experience" site. Bugs/Errors that have been reported that are considered not "critical" in nature (or "cosmetic" in nature) that do not need to be fixed immediately sometimes are considered "ideas". But no matter the severity of the issue, I think the user community needs to know about them and whether they have been fixed or in the process of being fixed. Having some place to review what has been reported would be helpful.

Also it would be to save time. During the conference I talked to a number of Fellowship Tech associates about bugs and errors that I knew of. I sometimes got answers like "we know about that one" or "we did not know about that one". Once I returned from the conference, I checked online to see if I could find anything about those bugs/errors and only found a few postings related to a couple of the bugs/errors I personally discussed with people during the conference. If I had not already knows that some of the bug/problems on my list were already known by Fellowship Tech and in many cases the fix was in a release soon to be released, I would be wasting my time documenting and reporting the error - be it in a support ticket or a forum/idea.

What I would like to see is an easy and quick way to review what bugs/errors that have been reported so that it saves everyone from wasting time reporting errors/bugs that you already know about. And since the "user community" cannot see bugs/errors reported though support tickets, there should be some process on the Fellowship Tech side to take a true bug/error reported to the support ticket side and list it on the "experience" side so we all can see it.

Oh and it should go without saying that the list/forum/whatever should be moderated in some way. Non-detailed posts like "I got a blue screen when running check-in" should not be included in this bug/error reporting list/area I am recommending.

And then finally, once this list is established in some way or another, then there could be comments by the community or Fellowship Tech as to how to "work around" the issue.

Search Options

On the "Experience" site in Search Options you have the ability to search on words, tags, names and dates.

I would like to suggest you have an option to limiting your search to a specific area (i.e. blogs, forums, ideas, and updates).

Also it would be nice to be presented with a pull down option for tags that lists all tags currently in use in the site (or the specific area you are searching) - rather than having to look up and then manually type out the name of tags.

Mass Updating

Any idea when the mass updating feature will become available? I have tons of data clean up to do but I keep putting it off hoping the mass updating tool will be ready. Will you have churches testing the beta version? Having a valid Private Email Address is essential to fully utilize the many features of the user forums on this site.

Follow these steps to update your Member Profile:

Login to the Experience site

Click on your username in the upper right hand corner of the page

Select the Email tab

Enter a valid email address for the Private Email Address field (the last field on the page)

Press Save Changes
