    Questions-Small Groups Best Practices

Hi! We are in the beginning stages of using F1 and are trying to determine best practices for many areas and ministries. The one that has recently become my responsibility is our small group ministry. I would really like to start us out doing things the most efficient way, so I have some questions regarding how others are tracking their small groups in F1:

    • Do you track small groups by creating participant assignments for group members or do you use the Groups feature to create small groups?
    • We currently have RLCs set up for each small group, so I have done participant assignments for one group and have tried to find a report that will show me the information I need to see. Are there any reports that anyone has found to work well for small groups? I would like to find a report that would show me the ages of group members and if they have any children...this could help out tremendously with placing new people in groups.

If anyone has any other tips for working with a Small Groups ministry in F1, I would appreciate all the imput I can get.

    Thanks!

    Re: Questions-Small Groups Best Practices

    Anne,

We are using "groups" in F1 in a relatively unique way. (Note: we refer to our small groups as LifeGroups, so I will use that term.) We wanted to use F1 to track two things with LifeGroups:
    1) We wanted to track an individuals membership and participation in a LifeGroup. This is fairly straight forward and a commonly used by churches using F1.
    2) We also wanted to track the LifeGroups themselves - separate from the individual. To do that, we created a special status name for our LifeGroups. Then we created households in the system that represented each LifeGroup. So now we can track whether a LifeGroup (as a whole) serving (or other group activities) as a LifeGroup (rather than just track each individuals in a LifeGroup).
These two approaches let us manage indivudals and their participation - and then seperately "groups" participation. (and do it in F1)

If you are interested to know more about our approach to "groups" (specifically the item #2 part above) please email me directly through F1 and I will be glad to answer your questions and connect you with the people at our church that manage our LifeGroups.

    Anne:

take a look at report M3033E for some of the information you are requesting.
