    Data Structure Question

We participate in several annual events/outreach in our community where we invite people to give us their information so that they can be on our mailing list and potentially come to our church.  We want the ability to contact an event attendee through the event name.

What is the best way to structure our data without it becoming clunky in two to three years?

    Your suggestions would be great.

    Thanks,

    Denise

    Re: Data Structure Question

I'm not sure what you mean by "clunky" but we have similar events and we divide people up in two ways through the Status we give them...they are either Attendee - Event Prospects or Inactive - Event Attendees...then in the sub-status we can list the different types of events (such as Women's Event or Easter Hunt or whatever) to be able to filter out how they came into our database.  We ask on the information cards if they already have a church home and if they list 'yes' they become Inactive - ...and if they list 'no' we list them as Attendee - so that they will get general church info emails and mailings.

This may not work for you if you use the Status field in a different way.  You could also use the Attributes or Assignments for these events as well to mark their records for easy removal or addition to the lists you are pulling.

    Hope that helps.
