The only way to do this is to have the activity not creating assignments and have the rooms set up with a best fit based on age. You won't be able to do any reporting based on assignment if it is set up this way, but you can do all of your reporting based on attendance. We use this for our preschool department because there are so many different levels of classes based on the age of a child from month to month and milestone to milestone.
