Do you use the barcode tags for self-check in? If so, which company did you go with for that purchase?

Not sure what you consider cost effective, we have generated labels with barcodes from Excel as an interim solution for using the scanning system for volunteers.  We are in the process of purchasing a Badge Generator system from Alpha Card systems to replace this process.  We spent a approximately $100 for a barcode generator that we could use with Excel or Access.  We will spend less than $3000 for the hardware and software system that provides us with all of the pieces we think are necessary to produce badges with pictures and barcode, with some durability, and a database to keep track of all of it.  If this does not provide you with enough information or you have more questions let me know.

We've had great success with Clear Media.  They have a sliding scale, based on the number of key tags (and/or credit-card sized barcodes, and/or stickers for inside the Bible or on cell phones) you order.  At this writing, I don't have all the contact info, but you can start with:

     Good luck!
