I finally gave in and began a blog. We'll see where it goes... My first post explains the "what and why" behind my choice for the blog title.
What does the title 'Daily Concerns' mean?
After joining Fellowship Technologies in May of 2004 the verse, 2 Corinthians 11:28, became one of my favorites. In 2 Corinthians 11:23 - 27 the apostle Paul reminds us of the many sufferings he's endured as a servant of Christ. He was imprisoned, flogged, faced death, beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, lost at sea, on the run, faced danger from rivers, bandits, his own countrymen, and false brothers. He labored and toiled, went without sleep, food and water. Yet.... (the next verse is the most powerful). Yet, despite all of this strife and turmoil he said the following in verse 28 -- "Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches" (NIV)
That's powerful. Despite all that Paul endured, his primary concern was for the local church. The majority of us will never even come close to facing the sort of pain, suffering, or persecution that Paul faithfully endured. I know I haven't. And I am not attempting to compare the daily labor or pressures that I face to Paul's trials. My sufferings aren't even in the same realm. However, I am deeply inspired by verse 28. Despite the long work hours, the pressures of building a company from scratch, or raising two kids and making sure I place my wife and family above all others, I too feel a "daily pressure of concern" for our partner churches and the local church in general. I stay up late and rise early, focusing all the time on how to improve myself, our staff, our company, our product and our services so that we can increase the effectiveness of the local church.
This blog will be about many things. It will primarily be technology related but will also touch on people and processes found within our company and in the local church. I hope that you will find it insightful .
God bless,
