Engaging Talent

A “Can-Do” Attitude

My Father was committed to raising 3 strong women.  We changed tires, oil and alternators, we remodeled houses on the weekend, our chores were not only dusting and ironing but knocking out sheet rock, installing plumbing, painting and shingling.  He raised three “can-do” girls. He achieved his goal of never wanting his girls to be dependant on a man.  He wanted us empowered to never feel helpless.  He taught us well and he never wavered from his goal, despite our whining that none of our friends had to do these things. He taught us over time and he kept the goal in front of us every day.

How committed are you to your team?  Do you keep the priorities out if front of them everyday or do you change your mind?  It is critical for your ministry to keep the goals you have in front of you, keep working at them and then when you achieve them, move onto new goals, Jesus did.

Commitment creates clarity around direction and priorities – Matthew 6:25-34 reminds us that He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. It is important for your team that you, as their leader hold fast to the mission God has placed before them.  Are the priorities, clear and concise or are you changing direction every time you turn around?  Remain clear and focused, teams desire structure and consistency.

Commitment aligns the entire team around a common objective -By aligning your team around one common goal you are able to achieve or exceed your goals. Jesus aligned his 12 around one common goal, learning to follow Him. The way, the truth and the life, God’s desire for everyone to come to know and believe that Jesus died and rose again for our sins was achieved by His 12.  Do your 2 or 12 know what your common goal is and how they are instrumental to achieving the goals?
