Engaging Talent

Sweet Victory!

I was a kid that did not like to play unless I knew the outcome. It has been a downfall of mine for many years, I read the last page of the book so I know how ithe story ends, I find out how a movie ends before I see it and I only like to play if I am assured a win. My father tried to break me of this nasty habit.  We would have family game night and Monopoly was always the choice of my 2 older sisters and my Dad. Of course, they were older and smarter than me and it was a sure thing I was going to lose.  About half-way through each weekly game, I would storm to my room in tears because I was loosing.  My Dad would pause the game, give me 15 minutes to feel sorry for myself and require I return to the game and finish what I started.  I hated Monopoly, it still strikes great annoyance in me and I have refused to play for the last 25 years, not even with my kids!  Well, you will be happy to know I won my first game of Monopoly against my Dad and my sisters just this summer.  It took me 30 years to win but I finally did and the victory was sweeter than I could have even imagined, I am glad I did not let the fear of failure paralyze me when I was summoned to play, yet again.  I am amazed that God loves me enough to supply my need to know the ending, He wrote Revelations so I would know the outcome, We Win!  So now I can read the Bible with great pleasure knowing I have a part in advancing His Kingdom, it will take commitment on my part to know His word, take advantage of the opportunities He gives me and persevere through what may be 30 years of not winning! I know He has created me to advance His Kingdom.  How are you taking advantage of what He has provided you?

Commitment takes advantage of opportunities before competitors do – With opportunity comes responsibility and it also may be one way for God to work through you. Luke 12:48 says “Much is required from those to whom much is given.” God has given us the responsibility of leadership and the creative ideas to surge above the competition, therefore; we must cease every opportunity to advance our ministry for his Kingdom, even if it takes us 30 years and many failures, He will provide us with the one victory that will sweeten the pot!
