How willing are you to confront difficult situations? A great leader identifies potential problems quickly by questioning other’s approach without hesitation. The key words here are identifies, questioning and without hesitation so let’s break those down:
Identifies – what is your source of insight as a leader, is it your past experience? Is it your education? Is it your understanding of your product? Is it your years of wisdom? I am sure God would rather have us focusing on Him for our insight in all matters; spiritual, work and home. But do we really take the time to pray for wisdom in all situations or do we leave God in the sanctuary? Spiritual vision is our capacity to see clearly what God wants us to do and to see the world from His point of view. Our insight can become clouded. Self-serving desires, interests, and goals block that vision. Serving God is the best way to restore it. A “pure” eye is one that is fixed on God for identifying potential problems quickly. Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be (Matthew 6 -22-23)
Questioning – what stops you from being questioning others? Don’t confuse questioning with quarrelling. You have to be careful on your approach to questioning individuals because they can become very defensive if you do not have a solid relationship with them. This is where questioning and quarrelling become mixed. You must have a trusting, respectful relationship with your team members in order to effectively question their approach to situations. Just questioning them because you would not approach it that way will only cause quarrels, distrust and a wall of disrespect. But if you have a relationship with them, one like you have with God, then they won’t mind the questions. God welcomes our curiosity. Sometimes he answers our questions, with questions right back to us, sometimes he leaves our questions unanswered but he always welcomes them!
Without Hesitation – We have 3 options when a situation arises:
Panic – we will surely do the wrong thing when we panic
Do Nothing – letting a potentially bad situation paralyze you is just cowardly, don’t let Satan keep you in a place, God never intended you to be…paralyzed!
Pray for Wisdom and Act – God has given you all direction you need to make right decisions in His word. Seek Him first and make then your move
Holding people accountable is all about managing conflict. It is about the relationships you have with your team members and how effectively you communicate.
Practice identifying, questioning and moving without hesitation today! But remember to do it all in Him, Tammy
