It has been a busy couple of weeks for me, so please forgive my silence on the blog front. I have been frantically trying to nail down all of the last minute details of our upcoming Dynamic Church Conference on May17th. God has been faithful. We asked him for 300 attendees and so far to date we have 295! Go God! Not only has this been “all consuming” on my life but so has my personal life, my kids are finishing up their school year with many functions, tests and sporting events. A dear friend of ours passed away from liver cancer last Friday and we will miss him dearly.
In all of my chaos, God has been faithful! He reminds me of his love for me and teaches me through other people. While I was attending the funeral the Pastor referenced Ecclesiastes 2:24, “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, …” You see Jerry was a man of integrity who found happiness in his work. He was a hard worker and worked for the Lord. I am sure he is sitting and visiting with Solomon at this very minute discussing just this verse! Then later that day, God reminded me why he wanted me to hear that verse at the funeral. Our CEO referenced this same verse in an email and asked me to thank God for all He has done for me today and he was hopeful that I was finding satisfaction in my work and that today would I please truly worship the Lord through my work. I thought, is he insane? Not only find satisfaction in my work today but to treat it like a form of worship? I just got back from a funeral…I wanted to wallo in self pity as I lost a friend and my office is piled 10 feet high with conference supplies, plastic bins holding everything from lanyards to t-shirts. Not to mention the last minute changes, volunteers moving assignment, questions from everyone, how exactly did he expect me to find satisfaction in all the chaos? Well, Jeff didn’t necessary want me to find it but God did! And He wanted me to find it quick because I was spinning out of control, waking up in the middle of the night remembering things I had forgotten to do at the office, getting sick, losing my temper with my children and not being so kind to my husband. God wanted me back in the zone of satisfaction so I could be a vessel at the conference to our wonderful attendees! He wanted me to see what work-life is really about…worshiping Him by being satisfied in my work, even in the chaos!
