Hsld/Ind 2.0 - Gears, Groups and Dupes

The project known simply as "Household/Individual 2.0" is a key building block in the overall re-design of Fellowship One.  We are excited to share our design ideas based wholly on your feedback of our product over the last several years.  We can’t afford to simply build this stuff in the dark and then spring it on you, so we are sharing this design step with you to help foster a better design/workflow/experience; your feedback is very important!  Please take the opportunity to shape this project by reviewing each of the following videos and commenting as you can.  In addition, please ask others who have an expertise in the area to review it and comment.

Thanks.

I think it might be a good idea to fully populate the gear drop down even if you can perform an action from elsewhere on the page.  The page is getting very dense, and sometimes quite long.  I'd rather click the gear and select an action than scroll down, expand a section, then select an action.

If you think about the motivation of why you go to an individual's information it's usually either 1) I want an overview of this person and want to browse our knowledge bank or 2) This person is standing in front or has submitted something on paper and I need to perform an action.

If I know the action before I open the individual, I want a really quick way to perform that action, hence the thought to populate the gear button completely.  However, if I'm browsing a person, having the existing methods to update is also good.

1. This is really hard to comment on due to sizing... I have gone to Vimeo and played the videos in the non-embedded, full-screen format, but the resolution is too fuzzy when enlarged.  Video does help understand how the functionality works, but really need a live environment (can you turn on in Staging?  Staging is up and running just not with these looks) or post .PDFs for us to use in order to get good feedback prior to launch. I believe you would get very constructive feedback if we can experience it and use it in Staging.  This will save having to make changes after the launch on things deemed very important to the daily user.

2. Some people have posted their comments on the Vimeo website... might want to get them moved over to Experience site...

3. Really would like to be able to save my collapse/expand settings... Although I have access to Giving, I prefer it stayed rolled up until I need to see it, etc.

@JMacBrown thanks for the feedback; I'll see what I can do to provide more clarity.  I can't turn it on in staging as this is all just prototype; when it is more than prototype we will have it running there for several weeks.

Groups are very much like assignments.  We want people to see where someone is listed.  If the Group default is only the Groups that I have Manage/View permission then there needs to be a View All that will show all Groups.  This is important for understanding all the places a person is connected. You may need to add a category of Confidential Group to take care of lists that are associated with care ministries, i.e. Celebrate Recovery

When you click on the potential dupe it needs to go to the page Find Duplicates or similar where demographic information is displayed. This page should present the potential duplicates regardless of status.  This page should also search for an individual that does not fit the possible list but is to be shown so a correct selection can be made.

Curtis - I agree with @BryanJohnson the gear should include actions that are accessable on the page (for quick access). You also mentioned a future thing having to do with "roles" in the group. When you do add that please make sure the roles can be defined on the admin tab. Thanks for all the videos. They were a great help! Looking forward to Hsld/Ind 2.0.

J.Mac Brown - I used the ZOOM function in my web browser and was able enlarge the video and see all the detail. Have you tried that?

This is looking great! I really like being able to see what groups an individual is a part of.  I would like the ability to remove them from each group from that screen.

This Gears/Groups/Dupes Feature is full of necessary data all on 1 screen! I like it!

Will an administrator be able to see ALL Groups, if necessary?

Hi Curtis

We love the idea of the potential duplicates showing there on the screen for you to deal with there and then. Great. That got us thinking that you may well then wnat to click in to one or more of those people to see if they are a real duplicate. Then you may decide not and want to go back to the original person you selected. I am sure you can always use the back button, but better would be to have (somehow) an ability to access a list of people recently viewed so that you can then pick who you want to jump back to. Do you get what I mean?

I think it would be more productive if from the dupes area in 2.0 it takes you to the Duplicate Finder page where you can choose other potential duplicates to merge.
