I like alot of the new features in the new child check in system; however, I do have a concern with the photo part.

Photographing children is a concern because their looks can change so much over the course of a few years.  This would require updates which would be very time consuming.  We used photo ID's before we used F1 child check, but we took pics of the parents not hte kids.

The photo is your choice, you can use it or not.  We do have a strong relationship with LifeTouch (www.lifetouch.com) that will come in and take pictures of all your members for free; they then follow that up with a disk of photos that is just a couple clicks away from automatically being uploaded into F1 AND automatically associated with the right person.  Not much work, free to the church, and you get the advantage of a picture.

Nice, I'm ready for it.  We'll have to get some of those cutting printers.

Very nice. I like the improvements. As far as imaging photos, it would be nice to be able to capture the image of the child (or volunteer) from the check in station. That would be an effient way to keep photos current.

One question I have is about the cutting of the labels. Will this require us purchasing new printers if we want this feature or is there a way to make our current printers function this way.

We don't take photo's of our children for both security reasons and because like the other person said, they change. So, I like the fact that we can choose not to use that feature.

I love it! I'm thrilled about the exit button, I love the rapid check in option, the photos look clear and will be a wonderful bonus for helping us identify our peeps at a glance!  This will motivate our teams to get more photos into the system! THANK YOU!  We can hardly wait.  Not to mention USB support too!  YEAH!!!

How will the system behave if some of the individuals checking in will stay for more than one activity schedule?  For example, a jr. high student who comes for her class one hour and then is a student helper in the nursery the next hour.  Will the system see both of her assignments and bring up both of them?  How will this effect the other family members who may or may not be checking in to an activity for both hours?

Did I miss the answer to the label cutter question?  I have the same question as many of the others but haven't seen a posted reply.  I just bought several new printers I hope they're not obsolete already!  :)

Blessings to all of you at FT!  Keep up the good work!

The rules I gave Jingyi (our extremely talented check-in developer) was this: once I select the individuals in the family, whatever the results of hitting the "next" button enough times to get to the final screen should be the results that rapid gives me.  This may be too simple for some of you to use, particularly if you do a lot of checking in for two services.  So to answer your question Moe, it will not consider the 2nd activity time.

To employ the cut feature on the printer you will need to purchase a new one.  It is the same model LP2844z, but with the additional $100 "cutter" upgrade.  I'm bummed if you bought some new printers recently; I just checked out ebay and I only had one result for the LP2844z (several w/o the z) with a buy it now price of $350; maybe you can sell them without much loss.

Will the new release address the issue that the Old Household Phone Number is not displayed when you go into Edit Household Phone?  Many times this is how we confirm with the family the number they have noted in the database.

Sarah, yes the new release fixes the bug around displaying the household phone; the rule is to display ***-1234 (only the last 4 digits to protect privacy)

According to Zebra the manufacturer of the LP-2844-Z direct thermal printer you cannot "upgrade" your printer to the cutter version.  The cutter is bolted onto the printer and they want you to buy the entire unit.  We have one at our office.  i looked at it briefly today and there is no obvious way to detach the cutter without damaging the printer itself.  It is also possible the wiring inside to trigger the cutter is not supported in the non-cutter model so even if you can attach the cutter device it may not function.  we will continue to investigate this.

Curtis,

We did a small-scale role out of assisted check-in this weekend. (We are doing the official roll out next weekend). We checked in all of our volunteer’s children this weekend for repetition training with our check-in teams. We have a couple observations that we would like to see reviewed for possible future releases. 1.) The hard coded slash in the DOB field is throwing our check-in volunteers for a loop. Not that the system shouldn't put the slashes after the two digits, but it should allow you to be able to backspace if you made an error. You have to mouse over it (if not using the touch screens) which is an additional step. 2.) On the search results screen, it would be very helpful to show the address (or partial address) of the person that was just searched.  This would help w/ any confusion entering common names such as Chris Smith, Mike Jones, and Jose Rodriguez etc… Obviously, if they have children already listed, then this is a mute point, but showing the address is just another level of confirmation that you have the right person and will cut down on duplicates. Overall, we are very impressed with the check-in and with the role out of 2.5 it will be even better (thank you for adding the exit button on 2.5).
