    Data Import?

    Hi All,

If the technical abilities were available - is it possible to input the people into a spreadsheet or CSV file of some kind that can be imported directly into Fellowship One via Data Exchange or some other utility?

    Thanks!

    Richard

    Re: Data Import?

    Hi Richard,

Yes, you can import people into Fellowship One. Our Data Exchange API is written in XML, so you could build a macro off your Excel spreadsheet to put the XML into the proper format expected by Data Exchange. The DE method you use will depend upon what kind of people you are going to import. If you are importing single individuals that belong in separate households, you can use UpdateIndividualCollection. If you are importing families, you will want to use UpdateHouseholdCollection so that you can keep family members together in newly created households.

You can locate Data Exchange documentation in two places: 1) click the question mark icon in the upper-right corner of any Fellowship One page and then click the "Show" link to expand the table of contents. Click the Admin and Working with Data Exchange books in the table of contents. 2) Click the Community link in the upper-right corner of Fellowship One and then click the Dev tab. A link to the Data Exchange document is available toward the bottom of the page.
