At this time, group email only sends to one address using the order rules below:
- Individual
- Household
- Alternate – Individual
- Alternate – Household
- Work – Individual
- Work – Household
For outdated email addresses (for example: the work email address you gave to the church as your IND email years ago, but you no longer work for that company) we will still continue to try and send to if that is the email address above others in the list above. Our email system does understand rejected emails and reason code, but we do not flag the email addresses as undeliverable and skip them as it looks as the above list order.
Also, when two individual email addresses are the same type, whichever one the database encounters first will take precedence for that instance. It is a best practice recommendation to try and identify what individual email address is the one to be used and designate it as the individual email address, type “email”.
