Group E-mail 2.0: What happens when someone unsubscribes?

    Hello,

We just sent a marketing e-mail to 2,700 different e-mail addresses for our upcoming sermon series.

I was sort of aware of the unsubscribe function but am not sure what happens when someone actually uses this option.  Also, am I as the administrator notified in some way when this happens.

I'm sorry if the answer to this is obvious.  I went back through all of the literature I have and couldn't see anything definitive.

     Thanks and God Bless,

    Joe Watts

    Hi Joe,

When someone unsubscribes from email, it simply marks their email as unlisted (clears the listed checkbox).  Email 2.0 works / depends on the listed item being present to send emails.  Currently, there is not a distinct way of showing you the people who unsubscribed.  We are working on a report that will handle this for the administrators.

Hope this helps and thanks for your post.

    Lance,

That helps a great deal.  We are loving the upgrades to the mail program (especially the attachment function).

There are three reports that will help you manage recipients and unsubscribes. They are P7601, P7602, and P7603. We are going to use P7603 to send an email to the individual to understand their request so we do not have people unknowingly dropping themselves from activity communication when it was a ministry general mailing

Re: Group E-mail 2.0: What happens when someone unsubscribes?

Is there any way to set up an unsubscribe that will only unsubscribe an individual from a people list? We are trying to set up ministry opt in emails and a root level unsubscribe does not work. We don't want ministry members to be left out of church wide emails simply because they elected to unsubscribe from our email.

    Thanks

Re: Group E-mail 2.0: What happens when someone unsubscribes?

No.  You need to communicate to each of the individuals who unsubscribed.  You will find many reasons for unsubscribing including mistaken action.  Also you will need to watch as the unsubscribe action to unlist may affect the individual email or may affect the household email.  The reports that have been mentioned before are very helpful as they connect the unsubscribe to the email that was sent.
