Cell Phones, Outlook and F1 Contacts

I would be interested in hearing suggestions from churches on how they keep their pastors cell phones updated with membership phone numbers & other related info.

One of our pastors was going to have a secretary type all of our church members names and numbers into his cell phone. This brought up a question that I have been considering since: how we keep F1, where we enter all of our member information, in sync with Microsoft Outlook which could then be used via Plaxo, Airset and other applications to sync this information to cell phones.

I can think of ways to do this, but all seem rather inefficient. Looking for best practices out there that are working well for churches.

That is ok, but it would be even better if you could export the info to outlook or a cell phone.  The mobile F1 would be better if you could dial straight out of it, but you have to find it...write it down...dial the number.

Any help on putting the info in outlook and/or cell phones?

If you have a Blackberry you can dial right out of mobile F1. I personally think it would not be a good idea to keep all of your congregations info in sync with Outlook and especially a mobile phone. This poses several security risks most notibably what happens if the phone is lost or stolen. Just my thoughts. I think mobile F1 is the way to go.

Last year at Dynamic Church 07 I did presentation on Data Exchange (the Fellowship One XML RPC API).  In one of my demos, I used a HTC device and entered in contact information of some individuals.  When my device synchronized with Outlook it uploaded all of the information into Fellowship One Portal's database.  Have a look at this blog - it was a follow up to some questions I received about the demo.

The scenario in the blog might be the exact opposite of what you need (it demonstrates a "push" of information to Fellowship One), however it could easily be modified to act as a "pull" when the pastor opens his email client, for instance.  If you or someone on staff is up for a little coding it might be worth a look.
