    Self Check-In

We would like to try the self check-in system and I need to know how to get started.  One question I have is...Does self check-in require the bar-code system or can a person check themselves in by phone #, name, etc.?  Please point me to the documentation on how to get this started.  Thanks.

    Re: Self Check-In

Thanks for your interest in the Self Check-In Application.  Yes, it does require the bar-code system.  This is to ensure that the specific individual or family is returned in a quick manner.  To find out more about the Self Check-In Application, check out the release notes in Answer ID 12.  To access the Answer ID, click on Support in the upper right corner of the screen and then choose Find Answers.  You can then search on either "Release Notes" or the number 12.

    Re: Self Check-In

We are currently doing assisted check in at our church and are interested in now moving to self check in. However we found self check in only allows for ONE name tag. The way we have been doing the check in process is as follows. The family scans their barcode and recieve one security code and Two name tags one for the child to wear and the other for the teacher to keep a visual classroom attendence in case an emergency. With self check in only providing one name tag it throws our system off. Is there some way to print two or do we have to change our system? any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Self Check-In

    Ashley,

I can see what you're trying to accomplish by having a visual attendance report.  Another option which other churches are doing is to run an Attendance Roster report such as the M1025 about 15-20 minutes after the service has started.  This would show exactly who is in attendance.  These can be passed out to each room.  If anyone comes into the room after the report is executed, they can be added to the bottom of the report.  This is being done not only churches that are doing Self Check-In, but also churches using the Assisted Check-In.

I'd recommend that you post this idea of printing X number of name tags for Self Check-In in the IDEAS section of the Experience website.  You'll first want to see if anyone else had the idea and praise it.  You can also comment on their ideas as well.

    Blessings,

    Re: Self Check-In

We are in the same position as Ashley's church...moving from two name tags to one.  Running a report 15-20 minutes into the service will not work for us in our preschool program.  Our teacher's depend on their hard copy rosters to move their classes from the room, large group and back.  These activities are often launched before that 15-20 minute window frame.  Also, in an emergency a hard copy of the roster is important for the teachers to keep track of their kids.

How hard is it to add the ability to print out two name tags instead of one?  When you create the activity and check the option for printing a name tag...there should be an option to choose how many copies you would like to be printed out at that time.  By not having this option we are faced with two choices:  Using assisted check-in for families with preschool aged children  (an inconvenience for the families) or to have them check their child in twice...once at the self-check in and the second time to write their child's name on the roster in their rooms.  The latter idea allows for speed on the front end, but slides back to the old way of doing things and seems backwards.

    Re: Self Check-In

We tried using the assisted check-in mode at the self check-in stations while our scanners were being ordered - it was a nightmare.  Even with a volunteer assisting, parents were pressing buttons all over the place.  We shut it down and brought in a volunteers to check-in everyone until the scanners arrived.  Now we have our scanners and LOVE IT!!  Parents LOVE IT!!  If it would print asset tags life would be closer to heaven.

If self check-in printed asset tags, it might solve their problem and all those diaper bags and bottles with no name. Smile
