    Outreach Events

I'm always looking for unique ideas for outreach to children and families. What does your church do Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter to bring in the families in your communities?

We're having a "Children's Day at Christmas" (aka Parent's Shopping Time) this Sunday afternoon.  The children are dropped off, registered, and have a full day of activities (3-4 hours) where the parents don't have to worry about them.  Kind of like a mini-VBS for Christmas-time.  We will also have an "unrehearsed" Christmas pageant at the end for parents to watch when they pick up their kids.  It should be a pretty good time for all.

I've been reading more stuff on Missional chuch philosophies lately - they have a lot of good ideas on how to serve our communities, but are quick to note that these are not intended to pull people in to attend the local body, but to show them the love of Christ through our actions towards them.  They had some good ideas like getting a team of people with snowblowers to clear sidewalks and similar acts of service.
