    Samba versus CUPS broadcasting

    Hi,

We are currently in the middle of configuring a Linux print server (Fedora Core) for our Macintosh clients.  What do you recommend as a Linux print service: Samba or CUPS broadcasting?

    Kevin,

Better late than never due to the fact you have already completed this project.. but here is my $.02. At my office, we choose to go with Samba for no other reason that it makes things easier. If you run a mixed environment (Mac, Win, *nix) then its usually a straight forward process set up the printers. It also makes it easier when adding some new hardware widgets to the network as everything will support the samba/win setup.

I just took a look at Jason's site and looking at some of the questions you've posted, I think you've been there too :). Are you  doing this to use some printers that are not 'playing nice' with the Macs? Have you tried using IPP? It's pretty simple to use and you don't have to set up another box, just run it off of your Win2x server
