I think you just about answered all of your own questions:
- When they graduate high school
- mark them as single
- move them to attendee
- keep them in the household with their parents
- move them into their own household when they graduate college or hit the age of 25
- put a note in their status comment or in general notes as to whom they are living with (parents)
- mailings will go to head of household or household name and that is why you need to move them into their own household at some point in the future
- reporting can be used to find all people 25 - 30 marked as single and not head of household to then move them to their own household
