    New Account Creation

Has anyone noticed the non-intuitive way the account creation behaves?  I've filed this issue with F1 but here is what I'm seeing.

New user follows a link to register for an event.

They don't have a weblink accoount so they click the "Create Account" button.

They create their account, and upon completion they are congratulated and given a button to "Close Window".

Does everyone agree that it should then take them back to the login screen? or take them directly to the registration they started to begin with?

Maybe I'm not setting something up correctly.  I'd really like to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

    Thanks

    Mark,

Unfortunately you are correct.  I know that internally we are focused on improving the product but it always comes down to the highest priority items get resolved first.  I.E.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease.   The key is opening a support ticket and telling the product manager how you would like the application to function.  It sounds like you have done that.  Another thing I get my churches to do is ask around if other churches find this problem with the system and if they do then report it.  Putting it in this forum can do just that.  I wish I had some work around or I could tell you that you were doing something wrong but you are not and I don't.  I will make sure that the WebLink developers look at this entry so that they are also aware of the issue.  Thank you for your time and your help improving Fellowship One.

A way to get around this is to create your own website that can create a user login using DataExchange, then from there go straight to the form.  It's a lot of work, but it's possible.

    Mark,

We are having the same problem, and aren't sure why it behaves this way.  Thanks for posting the question. You aren't alone.  I've also turned in a request w/ F1 Support.

Mark, This was an issue that was recently corrected. Please let us know if this is still happening on your web site. Now when users create an account, they should automatically be redirected to whatever they were trying to access to begin with. God bless!

we're still getting the close button, January 2008. Is there something we have to do?

    Re: New Account Creation

I just verified that this functionality was working as Tara described above by walking through the following steps:
    1. Go to Portal::Weblink::Manage Forms -> choose an active form by clicking [View Summary]
    2. Under the "Web User" section there will be a URL
    3. Copy and paste this url into notepad (making sure you have the entire url and allowing you to remove any breaks in it before pasting it into a browser window)
    4. Paste the URL into the browser's address bar
    2. Choose Create an account
    3. You will be redirected to the form

Paul is correct another way to approach this work flow is to build something that works with DataExchange - you can get the code libraries here
Please respond if the above scenario fails to work for you.

    Re: New Account Creation

Can anyone send me the code to create user login using DataExchange?  I want to have one place on our website where someone can login and update their user account and then go anywhere such as online giving, event registration or volunteer sign up.  I don't normally work with code and was not able to open any of the files that Kurtis posted for this function.
