    Alphanumeric Boards for Paging

Does anyone know of a company that sells the digital alphanumeric boards so that we can display the security code in the service without having to display it on our worship screen?  Many of the pager boards are numeric only and that doesn't work with the codes generated from check-in.

This is a problem we also encountered.  We use numeric display boards and assign parent/child numbers using a different field on the child tag.  This number does not print on the parent tag.  It is a work around, and now we are contemplating putting the paging number on the worship screen.

We also had this problem when we went live with F1 Check In.  Our IT Department purchased a 42 in. flat panel television and then hooked it up to the internet.  We are able to network the televisions to all our children's areas so if there is an issue they just type in the security tag number and it displays in the main sanctuary.  WE LOVE IT!  It was a lot cheaper than purchasing a huge alpha numeric screen and we can use the televisions for other special events such as conferences when they are not in use by the children's ministry.

I forgot to mention that the security numbers scroll across the screen like on your computer screen saver.

I implemented the microframe B3700 controller and wireless screens.

In order to work around the alphanumeric, I used an asterisk phone switch for data entry. All of our classrooms have phones, so we simply created a trunk to the box and we can use the 10key for entry.

If anyone wants the code, I will be happy to share.

I used a socket class library for PHP and established the connection to port 9106 on the microframe.

    Sherry,

What software do you use to display the information on the tv screens?

Hey Mark - It is just a screen saver.  We use the Marquee Plus scrolling screen saver.  Most new tv's today have a rgb setting that functions just like a computer monitor. We made the computer that the tv's are attached to a shared computer.  Then, we added a desktop shortcut on all the Children's Ministry computers so they can all access that one text message file and add in the security numbers at any time during the service.  If you would like to know more I can put you in touch with our IT person who figured it all out.
