    should be easy

I can't seem to find the answer by searching "experienceFellowshipOne" or by trial & error, so I'm sorry for the basic question:

How do I view all of the households &/or all of the individuals in my church?  In the "people tab" I can search for individuals, but I simply want to see the master list of all folks (and households) entered into my database.

    How do I do that?

     Thanks!

Good question, and I agree - it should be easy.  That was one of my first questions... 'hey, where's my master list!  Our old database had a quick easy master list function for both household and individual.'

But with F1 you have to run a report to get that info. They are very report driven.

You can use query builder very easily to get this.  Check out the following video to explain: http://screencast.com/t/uf9fvHwfBfJ

    Re: should be easy

Wouldn't the query builder work only for those churches that have less than 10,000 records?  Our expericence has been that query builder fails if it needs to return more than 10,000 records.

    Re: should be easy

While Query Builder may have trouble returning 10,000 records (I have not personally tested this), I think that if you're trying to work with a set of that size, you may be better off running a report in the first place. From a dataset of that size, the only thing I can think of that you're trying to do with it might be to do some form of communication task - e-mail or export for mailings. I'd be interested in knowing what you're trying to accomplish with the concept of a master list outside of mass communications to see if there's a way to help you accomplish that task better.

    Re: should be easy

I was making the assumption that any church that wanted to see a laundry list of everyone would only have a few hundred records.  Peter is right, reporting will work much better when dealing with 1000's of records.  Sorry for any confusion.

    Re: should be easy

thanks for the quick response on a workaround.

Is there any plan to including a Master list" button both for individuals as well as households?

This work around using query builder works for individuals, but it doesn't work easily with households... and there are times where we will want to quickly look through (while in FellowshipOne without having to export a report) look at all the households...

     Thanks!

    Re: should be easy

    Keith,

For what information are you searching when you want to look at all of the households?  I can see that this may be manageable for you right now, but you must have a reason for doing this other than just wanting to page through them. That's where I'd like to focus if possible. I know when I'm looking at sets of data, I'm typically trying to find something specific and while I can browse through a couple of hundred records, it's often easier to have some search criteria to help me focus my efforts.

If we can understand your end goal, we may be able to help you achieve that in a more efficient manner.

    Re: should be easy

Thanks for such a quick response, and we are loving the F1 program.

We are a church plant, so right now it's simply going through the data base and saying "oh yea, that person, I was thinking about them last week ...." or "how about them..." or "do you know them?"... "

once we grow to the point where we won't be doing that (looking at our list of 40 families) I can understand how groups and query's would be the better way than a mass sifting through a master list.

so, it's probably more a functionality that is less efficient, but would be something that I would be used to viewing in other programs (such as accounting software, viewing all in/outs on a chart of account, querying is better, but sometimes you just want to see it all on one page for no other reason than an overall survey).

so, that's about it.  All in all, we are digging F1.
