Related to this post: can a question be added to a 'create account' form: something along the lines of: 'Is this your home church?' ...or, 'What is your home church?' So we know who is from an area church attending our event, vs. who is new at our church with this account being our first record of them; vs. who has no home church. This information, collected at time of account creation, would be most helpful in the assimilation process, and would eliminate having to ask it every time we create a signup form for an event or activity.
