    Giftedness

Are there any churches out there using the Giftedness module in Fellowship One?  We are in the process of making decisions whether or not to use it and which assessment program to use.  Sure would like some input from anyone actually using it.  Thanks!

    Re: Giftedness

    Donnae,

Since no other churches wrote you back I thought I would.  I have helped several churches get their giftedness programs up and running on Fellowship One.  It is not a difficult endeavor but it is time consuming to get the initial configuration completed.  You have to setup the base structure of your giftedness program in the system and then look at every job you have in the entire church and give it a giftedness assessment.  It is not that it is difficult to accomplish in Fellowship One in fact it is actually easy.  It just takes time to think about each position (greeter, usher, and teacher) and then determine what gifts you would like that volunteer to have.

As far as picking a giftedness option I would recommend steering away from they type that relies on long free text options to give you a clue of their gifts or experiences.  PLACE and NETWORKING are two that I have helped churches setup and they fit very nicely in how Fellowship One is configured.  For example:  someone might have a gift of teaching, compassion, and giving.  They might be a perfect fit for being a Sunday school teacher.  So the job in Fellowship One would have those same gifts and maybe a few more.  We have reports built in so that person would see the jobs that they qualify for as well as what are the time commitments and job descriptions for that job.

I hope that helps.  For more on the giftedness program in Fellowship One please see the support tab.

    Regards,

    Matthew McMaster

    Re: Giftedness

Our church is currently using UNIQUELY YOU as the "Giftedness" assessment tool.

Does someone out there have a "sample" of how they set up gitedness in FellowshipOne?   It doesn't have to be  setup with UNIQUELY YOU... it could be any assessment tool.  I'm just looking for a working example.

    Thanks!

    Re: Giftedness

I'm concerned about the lack of response to the original post from other churches.  We are also considering using giftedness profiles.  I prototyped the SHAPE profile in the system and configured jobs to take advantage of it.  This is mechanical and, therefore, easy.

But just because you can doesn't mean you should.  Does anyone have measurable results that demonstrate the giftedness program they are using in F1 is successful.  For example, has anyone seen a drop in ministry "hopping" or a drop in time it takes for a person to find a good ministry fit after using the system?

Even if we successfully implement the giftedness program I need to demonstrate it's worth keeping and not just more busy work.

If we move forward I will certainly post how we implement and what the profile looks like.

We have not set up giftedness yet but we will be using the SHAPE program. I would welcome any help/info that you care to share.

Did you ever get any feedback on this?  I have the same sort of questions and was wondering how things have worked out for you.

    Re: Giftedness

Clete, I think that it's pretty safe to say that any giftedness program that isn't used well will not help too much.  Speaking for myself, I've taken several different assessments and they are helpful for me to know what I should start pursuing, but the churches doing the assessments didn't seem to reference them too much once they were done the first time.

I'd be very interested to know how people are using their Giftedness assessments whether the actual assessments are in F1 or not. I can see how it integrates into the system and can be used to guide someone towards various opportunities, but I think that unless you're willing to work with the data, follow up with the volunteers, perhaps even take a different assessment - it's going to involve busywork.  For my part, I think getting someone involved in trying out various opportunities that are of interest to them and keeping them interested in trying out new positions until one really clicks is more important than giftedness assessments.

That being said, one thing I really liked about SHAPE was that it seemed to take into account more of a big picture of the person than some other tests that focused purely on Spiritual Gifts.  Even if I have a gift of Teaching, it doesn't help much if I have little experience that would allow me to communicate or if I have very little knowledge/truth to actually impart.  :)

Anyway, my personal experience has been that getting an assessment and then moving quickly to have a person try out various positions has been the most helpful.  That was our biggest use and we got people to see that they really were suited to various positions available and most stepped up.  Does anyone have experience with short-term jobs?  Positions that may be available just for people to get involved and test the waters?

    Re: Giftedness

    Hello,

I would like to know how you all have set up SHAPE in F1.  I don’t think may are using F1's giftedness program.  We are using SHAPE and I would like to set it up in F1 but I don’t know of anyone who does - so I am asking have you and if so how if not are using SHAPEBLOG and the online test and then doing what with it in regards to F1 (boy long sentence)?

    Thank you,

    Mike

    Re: Giftedness

We are new at setting our SHAPE in the giftedness program.  We now have all our job descriptions in place and beginning to input the SHAPE information.  The few tests i have done show that people are being matched to where they are gifted therefore more long term in volunteering in that area.

    Re: Giftedness

    Bay,

    WOW!

I would love to see your process or steps to accomplishing this (flowchart), is that possible, also I would like to see the flow of the gofting as it relates to SHAPE.

It would be great to see how you worded the job descriptions (to see how they matched SHAPE).

What church are you with (Bayside)?

    Thank you!

    Mike

    Re: Giftedness

We are just deciding on what assessment tools to use.  Spiritual gifts inventories, Strengthsfinder, S.H.A.P.E.  Anyone have any success with these?  I'm excited to see that someone has used S.H.A.P.E. in referencing volunteer opportunities in the church.  Can we get a chat discussion going sometime soon?

    Re: Giftedness

We are also considering using some type of giftedness program and would love to be included in a chat if you set one up. We are just trying to research what is available that works well with F1 and don't want to go to the expense unless we find something that has proven to work well. Ann
