Missions Trip Funding (Group email and online giving)

We have a group of people going to the Middle East later this fall.  This group will be writing letters to friends and family soliciting donations for the trip.  I'd like to be able to create an email through F1 that allows each person going on the missions trip to send an email that includes a button in the body of the email.  This button would link to F1's online contributions so a person could give online.

    Question 1.  Is this possible?

Question 2. When someone gives online, is there a way to track who the funds were given for?  (i.e. a specific person on the missions trip.)

I look forward to your input.

     Thanks

    Todd

I think that these are both possible, though the second one requires a little more work.

#1 - There should be a URL created for online giving when you set up your Weblink Online Giving. You can use this URL behind the scenes for the button to direct people to F1's online giving.

#2 - While there may be a better way to handle this, the best way I can think of off the top of my head is to set up a sub-fund for each person.  That way the giver can give towards the "Mission Trip" Fund and choose the appropriate person from the Sub-Fund.  If that doesn't help, I'm going to have to defer to someone with more knowledge.

Hi Todd, I agree with Peter about using Online Giving with sub funds for each person going on the mission trip. I have another example using event registration forms that you may be interested in. The benefit to using forms is that each form can be personalized for the person that is going (i.e., a personal thank you confirmation message, personal messaging surrounding the gift amount selection, etc.). The downside is that there is no way to write in the gift amount. You have to use a drop-down list answer type to provide different donation amounts that can be given. If you choose the form option, you will still create a mission trip fund (contribution type) to attach to each form for pricing. You can also create sub funds (one for each person) if this fits with the way you would like to track the accounting. (This is not strictly necessary though since you will be able to report on money collected by form). You will then create a form for each person going on the trip (create one and then clone the others). This will give each person his/her own button link that can be sent out to friends and family. You can aggregate the forms together and place the single aggregate form link on your web site for everyone else to use. The form needs to include one drop-down list question that contains several donation amounts that can be selected. Either solution you choose (online giving or event registration) will definitely be recorded as a contribution in Fellowship One and will be available for contribution statements. Hope this helps! Please send me an email at education@fellowshiptech.com if you'd like additional information about either of these options. Blessings! Tara Coulson Fellowship Technologies Education Services
