I recently read an article in a Christian technology journal called
An Introduction to SaaS in which the
author defined the term Software as a Service (SaaS) as ''an application designed to be accessed on the Web rather than installed
on the user's workstation. Though the software is Web-based, it is not
browser-based. Instead, the software ...

One of the challenges of working at Fellowship Technologies is trying to keep up with our rapid growth while maintaining a high-level of performance for our application, Fellowship One. This past week we reached another milestone in our growth, we served up over 4 million page loads in a single week! What I’m most proud of is that the average ...

We have seen over and over that the biggest hurdle to embracing the real value of better information systems in churches is change management, or should I say the lack thereof? Amongst us church management software vendors, it is even a point of occasional conversation at industry conferences. “If only churches would learn better how to change.” ...

We’re excited about our new community site, Experience.FellowshipOne.com! In just the first four weeks of the site’s launch we have had over 1,000 different Fellowship One users log in to access the advanced features. And we’ve had many more thousands of visitors to the site to read our blogs and product forums.
If you haven’t visited the various ...

Quietly for the last two years we have begun integrating microformats into the portal; beginning with the first iteration of ''Add Household 2.0'' when we incorporated the hcard microformat into people search results and household detail view. Now you can find the hcard microformat in group view, search across groups, and in the next version ...

Is there a downloadable glossary of Fellowship One terms i.e. Tag, Filter, Activity etc. on any of the training sessions or elsewhere on your system?

As I write this blog entry for our new community site, I contemplated the above question: What stops a church from fully experiencing Fellowship One? There are many different answers for the various customer situations ranging from 1) lack of leadership to drive change, 2) staff turnover, 3) lack of infrastructure for proper Internet access, ...

What we want to do is use PhoneTree to enable our preschool to call and email all the parents in case of a major disaster here.
A PhoneTree salesperson told us (Mariners Church) that their system could integrate with our FellowshipOne database and be updated live without us having to run reports and convert them to whatever format (see F1 answer ...

I'm just wondering about other users' attitudes/reactions to the F1 support process. Have your issues/suggestions been answered in a timely manner? Have you gotten resolution to your issues/suggestions or are they still pending? Is anyone still actually using 3Cords.org or is it dying a slow and agonizing death?

Are you a Fellowship One customer, but you ask yourself whether your church is really using the system to its full potential? Have I got a deal for you! Many of our customers have been asking us to sponsor a users’ and developers’ conference and so this year we are. It is being held May 17-19 in Frisco, Texas (just north of Dallas). We ...

Hi Collin,
While I cannot point out specific enhancements planned for Data Exchange, I can tell you this:
Small groups will be getting some much-needed attention this year, and;
Continuing to open up access to the product by building out the API will be on ongoing theme
I would be happy to discuss these with you in more detail. Just give me ...

My church gets F1 in May, but I'd like to look at the API before then so that I can get an idea of what the system can do and present ideas to the staff. It doesn't seem as though the API is public, however. A list of SOAP methods available would be enough for some initial brainstorming. Can anyone help me out?

HI guys!
First off thanks for everything you do - you produce a great system!
Do you have a published roadmap for dataexchange? I have three efforts that our pastoral staff is really asking our techteam to take on, and if we can do it as a part of F1 or integrated with F1, then all the better.
The first effort is to have ...

Any developers out there ever thought of making a Dashboard Widget (Mac) or a Windows Vista Gadget (I think that's what they are called) for F1? This type of thing would be incredibly useful...Just a thought. I could try and make something with my basic experience. What features do you think it should include?

Norma,
We typically staff our kiosks with volunteers. This makes check-in run smoother since they are trained and keeps kids off the machines. We still encounter problems during non check-in times, but am in the process of establishing passwords and appropriate permissions at each station.
-
We are having an issue with the freedom of the kiosk. While on the one hand, people can check themselves to all events and services, we are finding that children are playing with the kiosks and creating ficticious names for themselves. What do you suggest?
Thanks Norma

Our webpage backend is currently on PHP. We are looking to change over to an ASP backend next year, mainly for integration with FellowshipOne and EventU. But in doing so, we're going to lose a lot of applets we are currently using.
My question is, has anyone made any attempts or progress in integrating the Data Exchange module with PHP? ...

I recently returned from a lunch with the head of IT for a mega-church here in Dallas, who also happens to be one of our customers. One of his parting comments was one I have heard him say several times before about the size of his IT staff versus that of the typical mega-church in America.
The comment refers to the fact that many ...

Hi James,
Thanks to your post, we discovered an issue in the Data Exchange code that was causing the error you were seeing. We have corrected the code and will be dropping the fix into Production within the next few hours. I will post back once it is available.
If you have any other questions or issues with Data Exchange, please do not hesitate ...

I'm in the process of converting our portal (Fellowship One) site template to a standards-based css layout. Concise, simple and semantic markup is my goal. Recently I had a "duh" moment while pondering the benefits of css.
A lot to love..
There is a lot to love about css:
