Have you thought about an email notification system that notifies the person posting when another person replies to the post? This could be a simple check box that tells the system to send you an email everytime someone posts a reply to a thread to which you have posted.

On the ''Experience'' site in Search Options you have the ability to search on words, tags, names and dates.
I would like to suggest you have an option to limiting your search to a specific area (i.e. blogs, forums, ideas, and updates).
